Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is most common among babies two-four months of age, but can affect children up to one year. Keep your family safe by following the below safe sleeping tips.
- Don't allow your baby to get too warm while sleeping. Simply adding a fan to your child's room will keep the air circulating and the temperature down. The ideal temperature for safe sleeping is between 68-72 F.
- Remove all blankets, pillows, and toys from your child's crib or sleeping space.
- Place your baby to sleep on his or her back.
- Incorporate lots of daily tummy time exercise into your child's life. This will help strengthen important neck muscles.
- Get everyone on board. Share these safe sleep tips with all of your child's caregivers. One-fifth of all SIDS deaths occur with a child is in the care of a non-primary childcare provider.
