What's the difference between a labor support doula and a postpartum doula?
A labor support doula is a trained labor attendant who assists you during labor and childbirth. Doulas provide an invaluable service to laboring moms - whether you are trying for a natural childbirth or going straight for the epidural.
A postpartum doula comes to your home after birth and assists in much the same way as a baby nurse but with extra care focused on the mother and her recovery. Most postpartum doulas are very supportive of breastfeeding and can offer help and advice as you are learning to breastfeed. They also help with housekeeping, older siblings and your recovery.
